Check Out a Sculpture That Really Makes a Statement at the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens
Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens welcomes the community to view Plastic Reef: Sculpture by Federico Uribe on Saturday, January 11th! The sculpture uses recycled materials from the ocean. Don’t miss this statement-making piece while it’s still on view for the public to enjoy!
Born in Colombia and based in Miami, Federico Uribe’s work is whimsical and leaves the viewer with a memory of humor, beauty, and love. He creates sculptures that speak to human and animal existence, using the neglected beauty of simple objects in daily use.
Uribe’s work has become prominent in the United States over the past decade. His artwork has been collected by and featured in multiple museums around North and South America, rapidly becoming some of the most sought-after contemporary art around the world. In this past year alone, Uribe’s work has been shown in Europe (including the 2019 Venice Biennale), Asia, and widely across the United States.
The Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens is devoted to exhibiting works of other artists, preserving the founder’s studio and displaying her monumental sculptures in a secluded urban preserve where a notable collection of rare palms is continually being developed.
Plastic Reef will be presented in partnership with the Perry Cohen Foundation. The Perry J. Cohen Foundation was created to carry on Cohen Perry's legacy and support what he was most passionate about. The PJCF is devoted to the advancement of the arts, environmental, marine & wildlife education and preservation, teenage entrepreneurship, and boating safety education. Plastic Reef will be on display at Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens until May 31, 2020. Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for adults 62 and over. For more information, visit www.ansg.org.
