Attention Film Nerds: Make Plans to See This Amazing Collection of Vintage Movie Posters

Movie buffs, be sure to clear your schedule for this Saturday! On August 31st, the Norton Museum of Art will present the largest-ever museum exhibition of classic movie posters from one of the most prominent private collections in the world. Don’t miss it!

Coming Soon: Film Posters from the Dwight M. Cleveland Collection comprises more than 200 posters representing comedies, musicals, Westerns, sci-fi thrillers, dramas, and others that date from the turn of the 20th century to the late 1980s. The exhibition provides a colorful and comprehensive overview of the history and allure of Hollywood and movie poster art.

Posters of iconic films, such as Casablanca, Singin’ in the Rain, and North by Northwest, as well as memorable cult classics including Barbarella and Attack of the 50-Foot Woman, will be featured in this exhibition. Coming Soon not only celebrates one collector’s passion but also provides a rare survey of the history of film posters and their station in popular culture.

The Norton Museum of Art’s permanent collection consists of more than 7,600 works in five curatorial departments: European, American, Chinese, Contemporary and Photography. Since 1954, many distinguished additions have been made, including masterpieces such as Stuart Davis's New York Mural (acquired in 1964), and Jackson Pollock's Night Mist (acquired in 1971).
