Try Something Outside of the Box with This Shark Feeding Event at Sandoway Discovery Center

Come join us for a splashing good time at Sandoway Discovery Center! Sandoway hosts a daily shark feeding in the centers 15,000-gallon shark tank. Visitors can learn lots of fun and interesting facts about the ocean’s top predator on Saturday, November 9th!

Sharks, as a top predator in the ocean, help control the numbers of other fish and animal species. If you remove all the sharks, the animal populations they feed on could potentially grow out of control and exhaust their food supply and die out. Currently, the Sandoway Discovery Center has resident Nurse Sharks, Cownose Rays, and a Bat Ray on exhibit.

Millions of sharks are killed every year due to commercial fishing as bycatch. Bycatch are animals unintentionally caught in nets and on lines meant for tuna, swordfish, mahi and other desired fish species. By eating more responsible seafood, people can help affect the industry and potentially help save sharks and other bycatch animals. Help Sandoway Discovery Center fulfill our mission of being South Florida’s premier marine life center through education and conservation while participating in shark feeding.

Admission is $6.00 per person ages 3 and up. The shark feeding is included with admission. For more information on this chomping good time, contact the center at 561-274-7263.
